Job Summary

Position Summary:

CUBRC, a leading Research, Development, Testing and Systems Integration company specializing in the areas of Data Science & Information Fusion, Chemical, Biological & Medical Sciences, and Aeronautics, is seeking full-time, entry level IT Support Specialist candidates who would like to expand their experience in a highly technical mixed Windows/Linux environment.


Primary Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be required to install, maintain, document and troubleshoot computing and communications systems, including computer hardware and enterprise software applications.  The IT Support Specialist will also be required to respond to requests for technical support and use their knowledge, skills and abilities along with commonly used computing and communications concepts, practices, and procedures to solve problems to support business operations and end users in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.



  • Associates degree minimum
  • Information Technology Certifications a plus (A+, Net+, etc.)



  • Detail oriented, friendly, outgoing, patient, highly professional, and encouraging manner
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong problem solving skills
  • Excellent time management skills and multi-tasking abilities as priorities can often shift
  • Self-motivated and directed with the ability to work both independently and as a team member
  • Positive attitude and a willingness to work hard and learn
  • Limited domestic travel may be required


Technical Requirements:

The optimal candidate will have demonstrated experience in some or all of the following:

  • Proficiency in Windows 7/10 installation and troubleshooting
  • Experience supporting Dell/HP laptops and workstations
  • Experience with Microsoft Active Directory and Office Suite, including Outlook email client support
  • Experience with Red Hat or CentOS Linux
  • Virtualization and Hypervisor experience (VMWare, VirtualBox)
  • Basic desktop level network troubleshooting skills (DHCP, DNS, nslookup, ping, etc.)
  • Basic scripting, command line and shell usage (PowerShell, Bash, etc.)
  • Installing and configuring networked and local printers and various business applications
  • Adhere to IT standards and polices on security, imaging, refresh, maintenance and inventory, etc.
  • Experience with enterprise remote support technology for support of local and remote clients (Bomgar)
  • Experience with Cisco networking hardware is a plus
